Emerging from the static in 2025. A global network of producers channeling the lost tapes of 90s Memphis. We craft the soundtrack for a distorted reality — blending the raw ethos of gangsta rap with the glitched-out aesthetics of modern Phonk.
Cowbells, distorted 808s and chopped vocals pulled straight off worn-out cassettes.
Dusty drums and hard-hitting loops. The backbone of every tape.
Rolling basslines and whining synths, slowed down and drowned in tape hiss.
Raw, uncut and unfiltered. The ethos the whole collective was built on.

Memphis Collective emerged from the static in 2025 as a global network of producers and beatmakers united by one mission: to channel the lost tapes of 90s Memphis rap into the present.
We craft the soundtrack for a distorted reality. Blending the raw, unfiltered ethos of gangsta rap with the glitched-out aesthetics of modern Phonk — our sound lives in the space between degraded cassette tape and corrupted digital file.
Lo-fi. VHS-warped. Relentlessly hypnotic. The collective operates from the underground — no major label, no polish, no compromise. Just the direct transmission. Founded by producer and artist CØNTRV, built on raw energy and a shared obsession with the Memphis sound.
Hiss, crackle and distortion are not mistakes. They are the sound.
Every artist gets their own login to the Memphis Collective artist portal: releases, splits and statements in one place.
Producers and artists from different corners of the world, connected by one sound.
No major label, no polish, no compromise. Just the direct transmission.
Memphis Collective is founded by CØNTRV: a network for producers obsessed with the Memphis sound.
The architect behind Memphis Collective. CØNTRV is the producer and artist who set the frequency in 2025 — channeling the raw, uncut spirit of 90s Memphis through modern production. The signal source of the entire collective.
CØNTRV, also known as Contra, is a producer, artist and the founder of Memphis Collective. He began making hip-hop at the age of 12. In 2020, inspired by the first wave of viral OG Phonk, he started producing Phonk himself.
His work is rooted in the history of the genre. Long before the cowbell era, Phonk began in Memphis in the 1990s, and CØNTRV sees it as his mission to keep that original sound alive. After watching the documentary Memphis Cult, he turned to Memphis Phonk in 2025.
His sound moves between atmospheric, chill drift Phonk with occasional Brazilian Phonk influences and dark Memphis productions built on G-Funk melodies and boom bap drums. Beyond Phonk, CØNTRV also makes Russian rap, inspired by the style of Vektor A and blended with his own sound. All of his music is produced in FL Studio.
In 2025 he founded Memphis Collective, a collective for producers who want to grow and need a team behind them. The collective is built on support and togetherness, and on the belief that no one should give up on their music. Its first release followed in 2025, and in 2026 the collective released its first album, Memphis Collective Vol. 1, together with its founding members.
His goal is to establish Memphis Collective as a recognized name in the scene and, in the future, to bring it to events and live stages.
